Timetable Officer & Planner

(1.0 FTE)


Temporary vacancy for 6 -12 months



You will join a team of 2 Timetable Officers and a Faculty allocation Planner. The school community is international; both staff and students come from all over the world; the programme is taught completely in English. Hotelschool The Hague has an excellent reputation built up over 85 years, the result of the structured educational programme and the experience and quality of our staff and lecturers. Tasks and responsibilities

Your tasks will be divided between planning & timetabling. 

  • As a Planner you will support the Faculty heads to make a high quality planning which means you are allocating lecturers to courses based on the information given to you by the Education management. Your task is to create a planning within all criteria given which is most beneficiary to our students (first priority) and faculty. You need to identify issues in the planning and advise the Management on improvement opportunities. You will plan and organise meetings with groups of lecturers and the Education Management concerning the planning. After approval of the Education Management this planning goes to the Timetable Office and there the process for creating a high quality timetable begins.


  • As a Timetabler your main priority is producing and publishing timetables for Students and Faculty for both of our campuses (The Hague and Amsterdam). Based on collected data on employability, availability and occupation of spaces, study programs and amount of student numbers you produce a timetable at different levels. You identify issues and discuss this with the Planner(s) and/ or lecturers.


As a Planner and Timetabler you need good communicating skills as you will be in frequent contact with Faculty, Students and other employees (stakeholders). You acknowledge conflicting interests and have the social and communication skills to bring these interests together in agreement. With your analytical skills you see complex problems with many variables as a challenging puzzle.

You are an active team player willing to cooperate and contribute to the school’s success. You feel at home in a dynamic and international academic environment.


Candidate profile
You have/are:

  • bachelor level (desired);
  • relevant work experience, preferably in education or within a hospitality focused organization;
  • great affinity with higher education;
  • ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • proactive attitude to problem solving;
  • experience with scheduling;
  • experience with dealing with peak load;
  • ability to work flexible due to peak load;
  • preferably knowledge of the scheduling tool Syllabus +/Enterprise;
  • good computer skills, experience with excel;
  • good oral and written command of English.

Conditions of employment
Depending on your professional experience and qualifications, your salary will be in line with the sector’s collective agreement (CAO-HBO). In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers an excellent package of fringe benefits.

  • A 13th month;
  • Employees with working weeks of 40 hours are entitled to 428 hours (53 days) of leave with retention of salary per calendar year;
